Born in Zaragoza
(Spain) from the good vintage of year 75, we were named Gurutzeta Guillera Arroita and
José Joaquín Lahoz Monfort. We met while studying Telecom engineering. The spark arose in the university labs and we are together since year 96.
After five years from class to class, we graduated at the beginning of 1999 and exchanged our native desert river Ebro valley
for the pine trees and the snow of northern Europe: we came to work for Nokia
in Salo , a small town on the south of Finland.
And here is where we lived until 2007!
We had our first experience together as budget travellers with an interrail ticket in our pocket,
still as students. Then our horizon got wider: Tunisia, Scandinavia... and the 11-S caught us in Uzbekistan. We have tried
to know a bit better the north of Europe, taking advantage of our geographic location: Karelia, Lapland, North Cape, Norway,
Saint Petersburg and Moscow, Baltic Republics...
Living in Finland also allowed us to develop another of our big passions: nature and wildlife. As you can probably deduct
from the pictures, we have tried to combine them with the trip during our time on the road.
From the beginning we planned this trip as backpackers, as in previous occasions. First of all, because it's a way of travelling
that gets you a little bit closer to the daily life of the places you are visiting. And of course it reduces the budget
to a level that can be sustained during a whole year. But...how does it feel to travel for months and months...? There was no better way
to answer this question than trying, so we filled up our backpacks and started the adventure!
