My trip (7)

  • We just arrived to Guatemala with Dani and Vinci after a nightmare flight that included one night at Heathrow airport (as always, says Dani).

  • I'm happy to travel with these two, it's a migratory trip, they have their life here, their house, their friends, their rythms, their work,... It's another way to see Guatemala, and it suits me well after backpacking over the World. I hope they don't make me walk a lot... But I'm curious to meet the clowns (www.proyectopayaso.org) and see the life they lead in Guatemala (shit, now that I read again these lines I realize that I don't have any picture of ME doing my work with the clowns, but well, it was nice to take these pics with my plush heart, and there they'll stay forever).

  • We just arrive to "the 15" (the house that my two friends share with some other guys, in the 15th avenue of Xela). The first night at the 15, I got know everybody in the house, we had a good time. By the way, I discovered that I love mangoes, each one 15 euro cents and they are mmmmm! really sweet... I eat it whole, washed with chlorine, of course.

    Mangoes are really tasty!

  • The first day in Guatemala, I participated in a general assembly of the clown organization (most interesting experience) and in the days after that started the working rythm of these crazy guys. I took some pictures at the office the clowns have in Xela, about 6 minutes from "the 15".

these clowns have really strange tools

    interesting job!

    preparing a document

    "artivists"!

at the computer with herme, preparing a document

    wow, already March!!

  • Santa Cruz is a really wonderful place, a bit like a surrealist movie but in kaqchiquel version. I didn't meet much people, trully speaking, but Dani and Vinci told me about their friends there. The town is located on the back of a mountain, on the shore of lake Atitlan, so you have impressive views of the lake from almost everywhere you go...like from Dani and vinci's place...a real luxury for your eyes. They come here most of the weekends.

  • Some pics from the day in Santa Cruz when I tried rompopo, a drink based on egg yolk made in salcaja, near xela. Mmmm... maybe I drank too much...

    Me and Rompopo

that rompopo salcajeņo was really delicious...

...but you have to be careful with it!

when I woke up, maj'un! someone had stolen the bottle!!!

last thing I remember is to lie down, with my eyes swollen

and some blurry memories of drinking a lot...

...as if they were giving it to me under presure!!!

The next morning, I wanted to die...

    I had a terrible hangover...

...but I had to wake up

it was a wonderful day in santa cruz, as almost always

well, breakfast! I always put some garlic and jalapeņos to my beans

I had the idea to travel thru guatemala, but I feel so good here...
